DEPARTMENT PROFILE The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was started in the year 2000-2001. Around 600 graduates have passed out from our Department and working for various organizations within and outside India. The department is equipped with excellent computing facilities and has highly qualified faculty, specialized in various domains of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The facilities include smart classrooms, fully equipped laboratories, department library, computer facilities, classy internet facilities (8MBps), Wi-Fi facility, seminar hall etc. Post Graduate programme on M.E embedded system technologies was started in the year 2011-12 with the aim of establishing Research and development Centre in the field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering . So far 42 PG scholars are obtained their PG degree. Some scholars are pursuing their research work in various reputed universities. Publishing M.E. theses in reputed journals is made mandatory in the department for encouraging R&D activities. LABORATORY FACILITY The department has well established curriculum laboratories like electrical machines lab, power electronics lab, microprocessor and microcontrollers lab, power system simulation lab, control systems lab, measurements and instruments lab, electric circuits lab, electronics circuits lab, object oriented programming lab, embedded system Lab etc. The department is equipped with individual computer lab supported by higher end software like AU Power, MATLAB and many other simulation softwares. In all the laboratories in addition to the experiments prescribed by the Anna University, minimum of two experiments are conducted for coping up with recent developments in the field of electrical engineering field. FACULTY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Fully qualified, experienced and full-fledged faculty members are working in the department with a common goal to establish academic excellence. Each faculty keep abreast of their academic discipline through continuing education, research, and/or participation in the activities to strive for improving the effectiveness of their teaching, to take a sympathetic interest in the progress and development of each of their students and to keep accurate records of academic standing of each student in their classes. The Department has professors of diverse disciplines in their PG level. They include power systems engineering, high voltage engineering, drives and control, power electronics and drives, embedded systems etc. The faculty members have contributed for research contribution by the way of publishing books, presenting papers in international and national conferences and publishing research papers in referred journals. SOFT SKILL DEVELOPMENT In the era of globalization, soft skills are important component of the individual contributions to the success of any organization. Particularly those organizations dealing with customers face-to-face are generally more successful if they train their staff to use these skills. For this reason, soft skills are increasingly sought out by employers in addition to standard qualifications. To achieve these parameters and our students are well trained by soft skill trainers with continuous evaluation which will be helpful to develop their personality as well as placement. ADD-ON COURSES To bridge the gap between the current academic curriculum and the industrial needs, the institution offers a wide range of career-oriented courses in various related areas. Add-on courses are being conducted during every semester to the students to enhance their knowledge in expedient and placement activities. Some of the indicative courses for electrical and electronics engineering include industrial robotics programming, MATLAB programming, PLC & SCADA etc. DEPARTMENT LIBRARY The department Library has a collection of 250 volumes in different areas like Electromagnetics, Digital Electronics, Power Electronics, Power systems, Communication Engineering, Measurement and Instrumentation, Electrical Machines, Embedded systems, etc. Apart from this, UG and PG projects reports of EEE department are kept for reference in the department Library. In addition to the course file of each theory courses, video cassettes and compact discs containing video lectures of prominent professors are also kept for reference. Books are issued to Faculty and Students of all the departments. COUNSELING Our Faculty members are specially trained every year by HELIX COUNSELLING CENTRE, Salem. With this we offer counseling to help students to work through their difficulty to understand them better and to find ways of managing their situation. The students are given special attention on attendance and academic performance by class advisors and class counselors. This can be monitoring by our department staff members by maintaining track records. The progress is being recorded in track records meticulously. Special counseling is given for slow learners at the time of Anna University Examinations by the staff members through telephonic calls. Staff members who are known for their meticulous counseling are awarded with cash prize during annual day celebrations. MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MoU) WITH INDUSTRIES To establish a strong industry institute relationship, the department has signed MoU with Axis global group of companies, Coimbatore, Hytech Goodwill training and testing centre Pvt Ltd, Singapore, Padmavahini Transformers Pvt Ltd and Aveon Info Tech to provide industrial visits, in-plant training and placement assistance to the final year students. UNIVERSITY RANKS The students of EEE Department have proved their potential and secured Anna University ranks. Sathya (422713431014) 25th rank in April/May 2015 IN- PLANT TRAINING Students are provided with experience that will not only equip them with the knowledge, technical skills and abilities for their future career, but also a practical professional experience through in-plant training for gaining industry related experience. The students are encouraged to undergo in-plant training in reputed organizations during semester holidays to have an industry related experience. ANNUAL DAY AND SPORTS DAY Annual Day, a festival over the achievements our college is celebrated during every academic year. All curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements are appreciated. All the students who have excelled in academics and sports are awarded with cash prizes and certificates. Faculty members producing good results are appreciated with gold rings in the celebrations. PROJECT EXPO Project Contests provide a framework for combined learning, training, information, action and new encounters. The institution conducts Major Project Contest to the final year students every year, to apply their imagination and creativity to technology innovations that can make a difference. Students from nearby schools are invited for the project expo. The institution also conducts a Mini Project Contest for all the students to motivate their innovation and creation. All the projects models are exhibited in the campus for a week. Best innovations are honored with cash prize to appreciate the students. INDUSTRIAL VISITS Practical exposure to the students is necessary for better understanding the theoretical concepts. To add meaning to this, the Department is organizing industrial visits to all second, third and final year students. PLACEMENT ACTIVITIES The range of careers open to the graduates is an ever widening one, with employers looking for capable and well-motivated graduates, who can make an effective contribution to their organization. The training and placement cell in our institution helps all of our students by providing a wide range of opportunities. The institution offers career placements for the students. Our students are placed in Axis Global Automation Group of Companies, Coimbatore, Aveon Info Tech Ltd, Coimbatore, S. H. Electronics, Chennai, Lenovo computers, Pondicherry, Renault Nissan, Chennai and Reliance Group of Companies, Chennai. PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES The department has its own professional society with the faculty and students as its members. It organizes 2 guest lectures, 1 national level technical symposium and internal paper presentation contest during every academic year. The students are guided to go for participating in technical events conducted by other colleges. As a way of congratulating and motivating the prize winners in events our college management is awarding cash prizes.

To provide sound foundation in mathematical, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to analyze, formulate and solve engineering problems.

To provide thorough knowledge in Electrical and Electronics Engineering subjects including theoretical knowledge and practical training for preparing physical models pertaining to Electric circuit theory, Electrical AC and DC machines, Electromagnetic Theory, Power Electronics components like Inverters, converters, AC and DC based Drives, Special electrical machines, Power systems components and its optimization, Power Quality, Control System, Microprocessor and Microcontroller, Bio Medical Instrumentation, Measurement and Instrumentation, Neural network, Fuzzy logic etc.

To provide relevant engineering experience in designing and conducting experiments as well as analyzing the significance of the experimental data.
